Hey
everyone! This week has been great! You already heard part of it with the
temple on Tuesday and now you get to hear the rest. So here is the rest of the
week for you.
Wednesday
We had transfers, and Brother
Devrise took us down to Lynnwood. We had a good time on the way down, however
we got to the mission office early, so we waited for an hour talking to other
missionaries. Then after, we got our slips, and I found out I got Elder Rich as
my new companion. Guess what? He's the district leader! I don't know why, but President
keeps doing this to me. I'll be on my own for a little bit, but right as it
seems responsibility is handed to me, he puts a district leader with me. I've
had 6 comps. as a district leader. It's almost like President wants me to learn
something. After, we drove back home and then got things situated, meaning he
unpacked a little. Then we went right into planning the day. Then we went and
tried to see some people. Around 4, we had a lesson with Sister Oldham. She's a
less active member we met last week. We talked about eternal marriage with her
and the Book of Mormon. After, we went and visited with Hue. We talked about
patriarchal blessing and gifts of the spirit with her. She is going through a
hard time. She was pregnant but then lost the baby. I don't know how that can
feel, but I know that there are people out there that do. After that visit, we
had dinner. Then we went shopping. From there, we went to a lesson with Jason
Byers. We read some scriptures with him and then talked about how the word of
wisdom is commanded of God. After, we came home and ended the night with Elder
Rich unpacking.
Background on Elder
Rich. He is from Minnesota. He is 19 years old. He has been out on his mission
for 9 months now, and this is his first time being district leader. Me having 4
more months left, I just hope I don't get too prideful and turn into what Elder
Addington did when I was with him. I'm junior comp to him.
Thursday
We had district meeting
in the morning. Elder Rich instructed on repentance and how to achieve our
goals we set as missionaries. After, we had lunch. Then we went home and had
comp study. After that, we went with Brother Eywing and went to go see some
members in the ward that were new. That was an interesting experience. We only
got to see 4 people and only 3 of them were home. Brother Eywing is an older
man. He is also called to be the assistant secretary. So, he is supposed to go
out with us and see these new people. After that, we went and saw some
potential investigators, but not a lot of them were home. So, we went to dinner
with the Rensinks. After, we went and saw some more people, and then ended the
night.
Friday
We started the day with
comp study. Then we went and saw people. After, we came home, had lunch, and
then went to a lesson with Chris. We talked about priesthood and baptism. Chris
seemed a little annoyed, and he wasn't being really committed to what we were
asking him to do, so we dropped him. After that lesson, we then went and saw
some more people. Later that night, we met with Nick Nelting at the church. He
wanted to say goodbye because he is moving to the Everson Ward. After, we went
and had dinner at Jimmy Johns. Then we went and had a lesson with the Prices.
Julies and Phoenix are a family in the ward. Julies is less active because of
work, and Phoenix is not a member, so we taught them the restoration this week
and told them we would love to teach more if they would want us to. They told
us they would love that. After our lesson, we then went home and started our
weekly planning.
Saturday
We went and did service
for the Whatcom Land Trust this morning. We helped dig spots for parking
barges. Then we went home, had lunch, and did comp study. Then we planned, had
personal study, and went to our lesson with Leiloni. We taught her about the 10
commandments and following the prophet. After the lesson, we came home and
finished our weekly planning. Then we went and met with Brother Jones. That
ended the night.
Sunday
We had ward conference.
It was really good. During priesthood, President Nelson explained what ministering
is all about. It’s about bringing others the atonement of Jesus Christ. After
church, we had lunch. Then we planned out the day. After, we went and had a
lesson with Holland. We just read scriptures with him. I forgot to say that
Nikki came to church, and we had a lesson with her after our meeting with
Holland. Then after, we went and saw some people before we came home and had
dinner. Then we did personal study and comp study for the rest of the night.
Well that was my week I
hope you all had a good Sunday. I'll see you soon. Have a great week!!
